01 / Store
Store region and purchasing account
Shadowrocket isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. If you can’t find it in search results, first check the country or region associated with the Apple ID you use for the App Store instead of repeatedly changing your search terms. The account region determines which apps the store shows. Your current location, device language, and the US path in a web link don’t change your account’s region. After opening the store from the button on this page, rely on the product details and prompts shown in the App Store.
Check your country or region before deciding whether to change it
To check your account, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. The system may ask you to authenticate before opening your account. Menu labels can vary slightly between system versions, so follow the account settings shown on your device. Check the account used for Media & Purchases; the iCloud account name at the top of Settings alone doesn’t tell you which account made the purchase.
To change your region, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region. If you see View Account, open it first. Whether you can change regions depends on your account status and Apple’s requirements. Your balance, active subscriptions, Family Sharing status, and payment method may affect the process. Review the system prompts and check the requirements before proceeding; this manual can’t guarantee that a region change will be available for your account.
If the page says the item isn’t available in your current country or region, return to the account settings above and check your region. This doesn’t mean the app is no longer offered. Don’t repeat purchase attempts to troubleshoot the issue. If you’ve already bought the app, use the original purchasing account to find the record. If you haven’t bought it yet, first make sure your account can access the product page and use a payment method accepted by the store.
02 / Verification
Three ways to verify Shadowrocket
A similar name in search results doesn’t mean it’s the same app. Start with the full product name, Shadowrocket, then check the developer, official icon, and app ID. Don’t rely only on search ranking, a few letters in the name, or a roughly similar icon; none of these alone confirms the app’s identity.
- Developer
- Shadow Launch Technology Limited
- Official icon
- A rocket on a white background with a blue-violet outline, matching the official icon in this site’s header.
- App ID
- 932747118; the product page URL ends with
id932747118.
Verify the details on the product page
On the product page, check the developer shown below the app name, then verify the full English name in the provider or seller information. Next, check the icon’s background and outline, and confirm the app ID in the product link. The app ID is a stable way to identify this App Store listing. Other listings with similar names or descriptions won’t have the same ID.
If any detail doesn’t match, stop before purchasing and reopen the product page using the button at the top of this page. Once all three details match, check the price, compatibility, purchase eligibility, and update history shown in the store. This is the official Shadowrocket website and manual, with guidance on purchasing and verification. The amount charged, system requirements, and purchase confirmation details are determined by the App Store at the time of purchase.
Before paying, make sure you’re using your own account and check the app name on the purchase confirmation screen. Keep the system purchase record after completing the transaction; you’ll need it to restore the app when changing devices or reinstalling. Don’t rely on a download progress indicator alone to confirm whether the purchase is complete. If needed, check your account’s purchase history.
03 / iPhone
Install and open Shadowrocket on iPhone
Open the verified App Store product page on your iPhone and check compatibility before buying. Check the App Store listing for system requirements; don’t rely on system version numbers in older guides as permanent installation requirements. If the store shows a redownload icon, check your purchase status first. You don’t need to look for another way to buy the app.
After confirming your purchase, wait for the App Store download to finish, then open Shadowrocket from the Home Screen or App Library. If the download stalls, check that your network can reach the store, your device has enough free storage, and your account has no pending payment alerts. Troubleshoot download problems through the App Store and your system account first. A subscription you haven’t imported won’t prevent the app from downloading.
VPN configuration permission and connection details are separate
When you first enable a connection, the system may ask for permission to add a VPN configuration. This lets the client create a system network configuration and may require your device passcode or biometric authentication. Make sure the prompt is from the Shadowrocket app you’re using, then approve it if you choose. Granting permission only allows the system configuration to be created; it doesn’t provide server details or mean the connection is ready to use.
After installation, if you already have a subscription, follow the tutorial to import it by choosing Subscribe under Add Server. If you have individual server details, check the protocol, address, port, and authentication fields. Get subscription links from your provider and keep them private. Before connecting for the first time, learn the difference between Config, Proxy, and Direct under Global Routing. See the first-use tutorial for the steps.
04 / iPad
Install a previous purchase on iPad
Shadowrocket is a universal app for iPhone and iPad. After buying it with an Apple ID, you can redownload it from the App Store on a compatible iPad without buying it separately. First, make sure the iPad’s Media & Purchases account is the same one used for the original purchase, then look under Purchased. Using the same iCloud account on both devices doesn’t necessarily mean they use the same Media & Purchases account.
The iPadOS layout adapts to the available screen space, so lists and details may appear in different places. When checking your configuration, use interface labels such as Home, Config, and Settings. Don’t add the same subscription again just because a button is in a different place than in the iPhone tutorial. Check for existing servers and configurations before importing anything, to avoid saving the same details twice.
A purchase record confirms your eligibility to use the app; it doesn’t mean all local data has synced. Even if Shadowrocket opens successfully on your iPad, check your server entries, selected configuration file, and connection authorization. Check the App Store listing for system requirements. If the store says your device isn’t compatible, refer to its compatibility section instead of repeatedly trying to download the app.
Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision
The compatibility section of the same App Store listing also includes Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, find it in the App Store on that device and check the listing there. Whether the purchase is universal and which system versions are required depend on the App Store listing. Don’t assume that a purchase for iPhone or iPad applies to every device. The connection instructions below are primarily for iPhone and iPad.
05 / Restore
Restore purchases when changing devices or reinstalling
When you get a new device or reinstall the app, restore your purchase eligibility first, then handle your configuration data. Sign in with the original purchasing Apple ID, open App Store → Account → Purchased, search for Shadowrocket, verify the developer and app ID, and download it again. In most cases, you won’t need to pay again. Depending on the system version, the section may be called Apps or My Apps; either way, look for apps purchased with that account.
If you still see a price, check your purchase history
If the product page shows a price instead of a redownload icon, don’t confirm another payment right away. First check your current Media & Purchases account and look for the original purchase record. Having used the app before doesn’t by itself prove that the current account has a purchase record. Check purchases made by you, another account, or a family member separately. If the purchase is hidden, look for hidden purchases in the relevant account settings.
If you’ve confirmed the purchase record exists but still can’t restore the app, note the full App Store message and determine whether the issue involves account verification, regional availability, device compatibility, or payment status. Check the App Store listing and account settings to see whether Family Sharing applies and which purchases family members can access. Being in the same Family Sharing group doesn’t guarantee that you can restore this app.
Restore connection details after downloading again
The store restores your app purchase record, not all local subscriptions and configurations. After installing the app on a new device, check that any existing sync or backup is complete, then import your own subscription or server details. If you use a manually exported configuration, check whether it still needs to be linked to the original server. When adding a subscription again, use a link that’s still valid and check the updated entries and groups.
While your old device is still available, check the server entries, Config, and connection test results on the new device before clearing data from the old one. Exported configurations, QR codes, and subscription links may contain authentication details. Don’t publish them or share them where unrelated people can see them. For more on refreshing, organizing, and backing up subscriptions, see the subscription and server management manual.
06 / Price
One-time purchase price and service limits
Shadowrocket is a paid, closed-source commercial app with a one-time purchase and no monthly app fee. The US price is a one-time purchase of $2.99; other storefronts show local currency. Check the App Store listing and purchase confirmation screen for the amount you’ll be charged. Currency display, taxes, and price changes can affect the final amount, so don’t use the US price in this guide to estimate your own total.
A successful purchase and a successful connection are separate things. The App Store account and purchase history confirm the former; the latter depends on your existing server details, subscription status, network, and app settings. If the app opens after purchase but has no server entries, that doesn’t mean the purchase failed; import your existing details. Likewise, a temporarily unavailable server doesn’t mean you need to buy the app again.
App updates and subscription updates are separate
Shadowrocket app updates are delivered through the App Store. Use automatic updates in your system settings, or check for available updates in your store account. The store’s update history explains what has changed; this guide doesn’t list fixed version numbers or release dates. Updating Subscribe refreshes your existing server list. It’s separate from updating the app in the store.
If the issue occurs during payment, billing, or purchase restoration, start with the App Store purchase record. If the app opens normally but importing or connecting fails, troubleshoot with the tutorials and subscription manual. Separating these steps helps avoid repeat payments, duplicate imports, and changing multiple settings at once. See the feature guide to learn more about rules and routing, On Demand, and diagnostic tools.
Purchase / FAQ
Purchase and restore FAQs
First identify whether the issue is with the store, your account, or connection setup, then follow the relevant steps.
Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?
Shadowrocket isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. The country or region associated with your Apple ID determines which apps you can see. Check Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. Your device language and physical location don’t determine your storefront. If you can’t find the app, don’t choose another app with a similar name.
The App Store page opens, but Shadowrocket won’t download. What should I do?
Note the full App Store error message. Then check your account region, payment status, available device storage, and network connection, and review the listing’s compatibility requirements. If the issue involves your purchase or account, follow the prompts in your account settings. Tapping Buy repeatedly won’t resolve region or payment issues.
Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone or reinstall the app?
Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. Find Shadowrocket under App Store → Account → Purchased and download it again; in most cases, you won’t need to pay again. If you still see a price, check the account and purchase history. Reinstalling the app won’t automatically restore all local configurations, so you’ll need to import your own subscription or server details afterward.
I bought Shadowrocket for iPhone. Can I install it on iPad?
Shadowrocket works on both iPhone and iPad. After purchasing with an Apple ID, you can redownload it on a compatible iPad using the same account. Check the App Store listing for system requirements. A purchase record doesn’t restore configuration data, so check whether your subscriptions, servers, and Config have been restored on the iPad.
Can I get Shadowrocket for Mac or Apple TV from the same App Store listing?
The compatibility section of the same App Store listing also includes Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the listing on your target device. See the App Store listing for system requirements and whether the purchase is universal; don’t assume that an iPhone purchase applies to every device.
The interface is in English. Where should I start?
This manual keeps interface labels in English so you can match them on screen. To add an existing subscription, choose Subscribe under Add Server. If you already have a configuration file, check Config first. Before connecting for the first time, read the tutorial and learn what Config, Proxy, and Direct mean under Global Routing. You don’t need to change your system language to follow this guide.
